About Us

North Trail's Media Center is a place where students are free to explore their passions and ignite their own learning. Students visit the Media Center at least once a week, for technology and literacy blended classes (ITL class), in addition to book checkout. Kindergarten students are able to checkout one book, first graders two books, and third through fifth graders are able to choose 3 books. Also, we have more than 900 electronic books and audiobooks that students in all grades can checkout through FollettShelf/BryteWave (up to four at a time).

Mr. Josh Jackson joined North Trail as the library media specialist in December 2012. He received his BA in East Asian Studies and Education from St. Olaf College and completed his MS in Library Media Education and EdS in Educational Leadership at Minnesota State University, Mankato. He holds a Minnesota K-12 Library Media, a K-12 ESL (English as a Second Language) teaching license and a K-12 Principal license.

Mr. Jackson studied abroad multiple times in China and Japan, where he learned Japanese and was able to teach English to Japanese and Chinese students. Throughout college he worked at the student supervisor in the Multimedia Design Center at St. Olaf College, teaching student and staff software, website development, and graphic design. He also serves on the executive board of Minnesota Youth Reading Awards (Maud Hart Lovelace and Star of the North awards) as Treasurer and the Follett School Solutions Curriculum Advisory Board. In his spare time, he enjoys cooking, window shopping at IKEA, and playing with his cat Jax.
