NTES Farmington Academy

Welcome to North Trail Distance Learning Academy

North Trail Academy has been created with our students and families in mind. We recognize the decision to remain in a distance learning model is very personal to families, and we commit to provide a rich learning experience for our students whether they attend ISD 192 in person or from a distance.

Our mission, "to ensure each student continuously achieves one's highest aspirations" does not change if a student is choosing to learn in person or at a distance.

Thank you for your patience and understanding as we develop North Trail Distance Learning Academy!

What Can We Expect?

Your North Trail Academy Learner will work in the following three scenarios throughout the week:

Synchronous Learning: This is learning via Google Meets during a set time of the day. Your student may meet with a teacher one on one, in a small group, or in a large group with the class. Times will be set with individual teachers and support staff. Synchronous meetings will take place Monday-Thursday between 8:00 a.m and 2:00 p.m. Students will not be asked to be synchronous all day long, but in smaller sections of time throughout that time period.

Asynchronous Learning: This learning takes place in the form of video lessons that students can watch, rewind, and rewatch. Asynchronous learning is flexible so you can fit into your daily schedule. It is very important that students watch their video lessons. These lessons provide much of the direct instruction and directions for students.

Independent: This is the time when students will complete independent activities and assignments. Independent work will build off of information learned in asynchronous videos and synchronous learning sessions.

Communication

The Distance Learning Academy teachers will be available from 7:30 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. Please be mindful that we will be meeting with students individually and in small groups throughout the day as well as preparing instructional materials and videos. We will get back to you as we are available.

Specialists

North Trail Distance Learning students will have specialists this year (Art, Music, Media, Science, PE). They will have one specialist for two weeks. That specialist will provide assignments and feedback for your student.

Friday Flexible Learning

Fridays are called Flexible Learning Days - no new learning will be sent home on these days. These days are for student catch up and teacher planning.

GUIDING PRINCIPLES

All students in ISD 192, regardless if they choose an in person learning experience or they choose the Farmington Academy, we will use the following guiding principles:

  • Connections over Content
  • Less is more with depth, richness, and high cognitive demand
  • Designed flexibility
  • Monitor, evaluate, and respond
